I would like to switch my copedent on my Sho Bud LDG (maybe early 80's model) and was wondering if there was any documentation, posts, tips, tricks-anything which could provide some guidance, because I have never done this before.
My current set up is:
LKR raises F#'s to G
RKL lowers E's to D#
I would like to switch these levers. So:
LKR lowers E's to D#
RKL raises F#'s to G
Any help is much appreciated.
Thank you.

Just swap the rods, making sure you use the same hole position as they are in now, ie if your 4th string lower is in the 4th hole (on the bellcrank) away from the cross-shaft, make sure it goes in the 4th hole of its new bellcrank.
You may have to make some adjustments to the knee lever travel screws |

You also may need to pull back some of the other rods in order to slide the bell cranks over on their cross shafts. You don't have to pull those out entirely: leave the nylon tuning nut on at the changer end, just pull any back towards the changer so the hook end (L shaped) clears the cross shaft of the RKL. Just take careful notes about in what bellcrank hole thy were connected so you can out them back correctly.
There is a thread going about popping the retaining clips off the rods at the bellcrank. It might be a useful read if you've never done this before (not that it's all that hard or a big deal).

When I had my Super-Pro and wanted to make changes (I actually bought it used with an Emmons setup, and had to change every pedal and knee lever to my Day tuning") and if a rod was in my way, I would just remove the clip from the rod and slide the whole rod towards the changer end of the guitar, and it would be out of the way. Just remember to write down what hole on the bell crank the rod goes back in to. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) . Thanks Rick- hopefully I won't tear it up too much, but I will keep that in mind. |
