Sound Clip and Partial Tab.
I always found learning more effective by taking things in small bites.
My arrangement of Night Life can be played on the
standard Leavitt 6 string set up or the 8 string as noted on my partial tab below.
Give it a try....

Roy, I so admire your playing and arranging. For this one song, for my personal taste, it's the sound of those intro chords played as full, rich chords that really makes the tune. So in this case, to just suggest them doesn't quite give my ear what it craves. Otherwise, terrific job.

Beautiful. Sure, you can't get the typical low notes but that's why God made bass players. I love what you're doing with the tuning and I'm sure Bill would be thrilled as well.

Thanks Doug, Andy, Mike, Keoki! Smile

The focus here is to give people an opportunity to experience the Leavitt tuning with just a few simple
tuning adjustments (if your set up is presently C6th.)

Ray, what do you see as the strong points of this tuning, say in comparison with C6 on the lap steel. I have an extra little Rogue lap that I'm thinking of tuning down to this to give it a try on.

Jim,

This tuning, invented by my friend Bill Leavitt, allows you to play complex 3, 4 and even 5 note chords usually impossible on the lap steel and you never have to use a slant.

Jim,

What Mike said above. If you listen to his playing
by following the link he gave, you will hear a big difference from C6th.
It is not as strum friendly but does have other advantages as he pointed out.
By all means tune up and try it. My Night Life sample above may give you a first hand introduction and a "feel" for it's sound?

On another matter I can give you some suggestions in regard to your tab re: Beyond The Sunset.
email me direct.
