I've been using the Cleartune app for quite some time with great succes, but recently my former smartphone was stolen from me, so I had to get another one and it's running Android 4.1 which has no "Edit" button, so I'm unable to program the custom temperaments for steel that I was used to.

I've tried Pitchlab and while it works quite well, the visual clutter of that app looks like "visual white noise" to me and I can't stand it.

Does anybody know of another app that has the features of Cleartune and is compatible with Android 4.1?

Normally on an Android phone, you would need to use the menu button of the phone to edit settings. It can be a hardware button, but usually it's on-screen, at the right or left bottom.

Yes I know that Marco, but unfortunately there isn't a Menu button in this case.

I have some experience as a software developer, so I know it's not a very difficult thing to change in the app, but of course I can't do it without access to the actual sourcecode.

You know the guy? That's great news! I really would like to keep Cleartune as my go-to tuner, so if anything can be worked out here, that would be great!

No I don't know him, but I shot an email from the link in the app.
Their website shows they have a couple Apple only apps, a metronome with programmable accents and drums, and a music player with "club emulators," so it'd sound like your favorite venue.

I experienced the same thing with my Google Nexus 7 tablet. There is no menu button and no way to program custom offsets.

Yes I know they're mostly Apple, but this is still my favorite tuner on the Android platform.

"unfortunately the new version of Android broke the method we were using to give people the edit button. We’ve got an update on the way!"

If he lets me know, I'll pass it along.
I also suggested they either incorporate the Emmons or Newman charts in future versions

Another Android tuner app worth checking out for steel is "Da Tuner". It works on Android Gingerbread. Not sure about more recent versions

Yes, DaTuner has custom temperaments (the Pro version does at least) but it is not supported directly in the app. You have to edit a text file on your computer and then upload it to your device.

Better than nothing, I guess. To my way of thinking, any app that requires outboard assistance is inadequately thought out (I'm near my wife's laptop all of 30 hours a week).

It depends how much craziness you get up to with temperaments. I guess we could ask the developer to include common PSG temperaments in the temperament bundle that comes with the app in a future release.

I just sent the developers just such a suggestion.
I know some here LIKE hooking their gear up to a computer for programming and customizing; just like some people actually like those multieffects units with their layered menus.

I used "DaTuner" for a while, before I found ClearTune. It uses a .csv file for configuration, but it isn't really csv because it's semi-colon separated.

Here's mine from a backup:
