Probably showing my lack of knowledge...but I don't have a LKV on my steel. Question I have is: What pedals or combination of pedals of 1, 2 or 3 with the LKV is most commonly used? I trying to figure out how much I'm missing out on by not having a LKV on my ole steel. Thanks in advance for your thoughts and time.

It would depend on what changes you put on it.

I am not 100% sure but I think a common thing to do with LKV is to drop 5 and 10 a half step. Does anyone else do that?

I use it with the A & B pedals to get a minor chord.
Like on the 3rd fret to go from C to Cm. If you don't
have it you can move up one fret and lower the E's.
It's also very useful on a song like "Together Again"

Well, I guess I should have been more explicit. All I've ever observed is on E9th strings 5 & 10 being lowered a 1/2 from B to Bb. Now, having said that, what combination of pedals 1, or 2 or 3, (1 & 2) or (2 & 3) are used with the LKV..OR is it mostly used by itself? OR is pedal 1 or 2 or 3 used with the LKV?

Pedals A and B are the same as 1 and 2

When I ordered my Zum, the LKV raised 1 to G and lowered 6 to F#. RKL lowered 5 and 10 to A#.
I later reversed them.
Here's a brief discussion of it in a major chord setting;

Here's a brief discussion of it in a minor chord setting (dropping the tonic in the A pedal minor; C#m open):

Hope that helps.
Personally, if I HAD to go back to 4 levers, I'd keep this and lose the F lever

I've also seen some folks lower 3 and 6 with LKV. I think it's better to describe levers by what they do (I call this the A# lever) rather than either letters or positions, because neither is even close to standard

My vertical raises 1 & 7 to G. A lot of players put B to Bb there. I didn't use that one much and put my F# to G changes back on. I lower the 5th string to Bb (with a split tuner) on the pedal next to my A pedal so I can play both at the same time to get the C note. I play a Day setup, so the pedal is actually my 5th pedal as my A pedal is actually pedal 4 on my guitar.

There are surely others that use the vertical for other changes too. No real standard there.

3&6 lowered a half is very nice especially in lower frets ( me likes)...it's not mandatory though and I no longer have it.... I can get B"s (b5) lowered by moving back a fret and pressing A pedal and F lever. .. b5 has a lovely dissonance sound, a vertical would be smoother maybe!

Larry H,
I strongly feel you are correct, that lowering 5 and 10 with 1/2 LKV is the norm. Now to shed more light on your question. On Emmons set-up, no bar:
A+B+LKV=Amin----B+C+LKV=F#minb5 or Amin6th-----A+LKV=Eaug or C#min/Maj7th. Anyway, that's my main uses. But there's others and I love the V lever. RP
