I just read the news on Steel Guitar Forum just a few minutes ago. I have known Ernie for a long time one of the greatest Friends I have ever had. We played music together for years. To Nan and her Daughter I don't know what to say other than we lost a icon I really liked to pick with Ernie when I took the lead he always put his steel bar down and really listened to what I was picking, it made me feel good. I got I don't know how many tapes I made with him playing with the Country Gents a band we had that played ever Sat. night in a garage made into a band room.Nan I am so sorry for yours and our lost. Big Jim

Like many of you, Ernie was my buddy. He was always reminding me to "take care of Donna" cause she was too good for me and could get away. I always think about his teasing and his sheepish grin but always a kind gentleman. RIP my friend. Our prayers for Nan, Belinda, and the rest of the family.

Ernie was one of my favorite customers. He had a ton of equipment and over 13 of our covers. A couple of years ago on a trip to Florida I had an opportunity to visit Ernie at his house. He was a gracious host and showed me around his property and told me a lot about his history in business and playing steel. We had a wonderful visit.
I am sad to hear of his passing but know he is in heaven for all time. May he rest in peace and my condolences to his family.

Man, what a loss. Ernie EXUDED love, for his family, his friends, and his Saviour. Several years ago, when I was doing the scheduling for the old Saluda show, I had Ernie onstage, playing his heart out. Somebody hit me on the elbow, and said, "Listen to that! No way I can go on after that"...That man who touched my elbow? My old pal, and SGHOF menber, Russ Hicks.
No problem, Ernie. You'll get first pick of time slots, and play as long as you want to. My prayers, for ALL of us who knew Ernie, and his wonderful family.

Ernie joined the Forum about 10 years ago. He was a prolific poster and an ideal netizen. I never met him "in real life", but we exchanged emails now and then. Never a harsh word. I bought one of his clever little amp stands, which I use to this day.

The world needs more gentlemen like Ernie. I suspect he was a great role model to the young people in his life. My sincere condolences to his family.
