I just received a new Rondo SX. I mention a minor fretboard finish defect in another thread, but I've also noticed the screws for the bridge are mounted somewhat crooked, and it has the mismatched pickup spacing mentioned on some earlier reviews. 1st string is slightly off center. Are these bridges adjustable from side to side to any degree?

Anyhow, it plays good and sounds good and the above things seem to be pretty cosmetic in nature. Just got do decide if I want to keep it and do some corrections / modifications or just let it go back. Overall, I do like the little fella.

this is a very cheap import. that does not usually mean perfection. play it hard for a year and that imperfection along with new dents and dings will just give it character. i don't think you have the right to expect more at a hundred bucks. it's probably a fine little tool, so use it!

Yeah, I'm kind of feeling like that too Chris. Who knows, down the road I may change the bridge and make it a string through anyway. It plays and sounds great for a hundred bucks, and I'm afraid if I exchange it I might get something with its own set of imperfections.

For around $100.00 I would overlook any cosmetic defect. You can learn and develop technique on that guitar and then when you move up you can use the SX for experimental tunings, etc.

If it sounds good and is a good player, then I'd say its worth dealing with some minor cosmetic imperfections. While it would be nice to get high quality flawless instruments for $100, thats just not the reality. At that price point, corners have to be cut. Hell, I can spend way more than that on just a pickup.

The good news is that the basic design of the SX is fine with a good scale length and string spacing. Its well worth investing a little time and or money to make it your own if you want.

That said, as Don suggested, it won't hurt to see if you can get a price adjustment or other compensation.

I just checked out my SX-1 and the tone knob doesn’t work. I’m curious does the tone knob make much of a difference? There’s also a low hum with the volume all the way up and I’m guessing that a better pickup would fix this. I see that several folks change out the pickup for a stronger one.

I definitely like the guitar and will consider upgrading the pickup and maybe even have some fun doing a relic finish or something. Mine was perfect except for the tone knob.

Any suggestions on a good pickup or tone knob fix is appreciated.

BTW; Tom those are the finest lap steels I’ve ever seen. I favor the two that have Belle in the name but all of them are beautiful! Do you have website?
