After several months of use, I've just noticed a faint, constant hissing noise from the speaker. The hiss is present regardless of whether a cord is plugged in, regardless of volume settings. All effects are turned off and the light hiss remains. I also hear it through plugged-in headphones. The hiss from the speaker disappears when the headphones are plugged in.
Recommendation?

Response from Roland Canada:
Every electronic amplifier generates a small amount of hiss at the output, speakers or headphones. This is normal 'operational noise' and does not indicate a problem. The hiss from the speaker disappears when the headphones are plugged in because the speaker is disconnected when the phones are inserted.
From your description, it sounds like your amp is fine.
I just returned from the local Roland dealership where I found that the Roland Cube 40XL on the floor exhibited the same slight hiss. I tried another solid state brand of similar power, and found a similar hiss.

Your amp is hissing at the rest of Canada that has a problem with the Alberta Tar Sands Project (I don't)

At a show I played at last night I discovered that the hissing noise only occurred at the end of each musical selection, and appeared to becoming from the audience. |

Bryan, not familiar with this amp at all but when setting my mixer on stage I set the gain stage first and then the volume sliders. That way you get the strongest signal and next to no hiss.
If there is a gain and a volume knob I would try turning up the gain first and then use the volume knob to control your final output volume.
Just thought I'd throw that in just in case it might help. |

With a bit of research I found that the amp was fine. The faint sound is normal. |
