I`ve purchased a used system 6 months ago and wondered if anyone has a spreadsheet for different effects or settings they`d be willing to share I could program this thing, I read some where theres a guy out there that programs these with a whole bunch of named programs, but i`d rather not send it across the country ,I do know how to program it, Just need the parameters & variables
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks in advance

Craig:

You've got me thinking....I can't help you in terms of providing pedal steel patches, but I've had an MPX-1 sitting in my studio rack downstairs and I haven't even turned it on in probably 3 years. It would make a nice unit to add to my steel setup, although I'm not sure I want one more thing to lug around.

I'd be interested to know if you get it set up the way you like it and find it makes a great addition to your setup. Then I might go to the trouble of taking it out of the rack and into the psg bag (and trying to remember how to program it!)

Craig, I have that exact set up and it's a great combination. You're thinking right on the MPX 1. If you program it yourself you'll always know how to do it. Leave it to someone esle and you'll never know. I found that if you go throught the canned programs in there you can find many that sound pretty good. Copy it to the user bank and then go into the program and tweek it to your likes. There are two on the Net which Buddy Emmons uses, one being a Delay program and the other a Reverb program and they are both good. Through the years I've got some from others that they liked but I didn't really care for so just because someone else likes it, you may not. Good luck with it Craig, it's a great effects unit.

Buddy's Programs I discussed above...

Reverb type - Hall
RVB Mix - 22% Level - + 1db
RVB Size - 52.0M Link - on
RVB Diff - 80% P Dly - 25ms
RVB Bass - 1.5x Decay - 1.30s
RVB X Ovr - 818 Rt HC 14.1K
RVB Shape - 88 Spred - 87

The ballad delay is:
Delay mix - 15% Level - 0 db
Delay time - 2:1 Feedback - +14%
Delay damp - 3%
My third delay is a sped up version of the above to keep from having to tap my way back to the two ballpark settings from song to song.

Michael, this setup makes some beautiful noise, best I`ve ever heard, I think the fella that owned this was friends with Hughey,

Dave , Thanks for the settings, Ill give it a go.
The first time I programmed a model I put delay on the left and reverb on L&R , It was quite interesting , but all I had to do is hit the delay button to shut it off completely, Its those parameters (there called something else on the MPX)and amounts that are hard to get correct right up front. Having some Fun tryin .

I think it be nice to have about 10 different settings.

There was a fellow forum steeler a few years ago who would program the unit for you if you sent it to him. I did that and it was a very reasonable service.
It could have been Roger Castlebury.

Craig, you have to be careful in your order of Delay and Reverb in conjuntion with the Revelation or you'll experience some not real good results. If I recall correctly, always put the reverb after the delay. Brad Sarno could give you the rules in building your programs.

Dave is right. I think almost everyone puts the delay first, then reverb. You don't really want discrete repeats of the reverb!

I use my MPX1 for Reverb or Delay, rarely both because I run my MPX1 in the effects loop. Due to the routing topology in the MPX1, it's difficult to get them both to run effectively in the effects loop. Chorus is also hard.

I use the following settings, generally:

Input knob: Adjusted to not clip
Output knob: Wide open
Reverb type: Plate
Mix: 100%
Output: +6 db
Size: 52.0
P delay: 0-20 ms, depending on the environment and how much reverb I'm running. More gives the attack more clarity and I use it more for faster music where I still want some verb.
Bass: 1.0x
Decay: Around 1.9 seconds depending on the song
Crossover: Around 400
Rt HC (this is important to me): No higher than 5K. Any higher than than will not be reproduced well due to the natural rolloff that occurs.

When I use delay, 200 ms, 1 repeat, no reverb.

If I was going to use multiple effects together, I would run the unit after the outputs of the Revelation.

I respect your opinion, and I'm sure you program the MPX-1 for great sounds. However, your comment

Is not very scientific. If the amp naturally rolls off above 5k, then it really shouldn't matter if the reverb presents frequencies above that.

Why do you find it "...important to me" ?

That is why I was saying, folks should learn to program an MPX 1 and not depend on others programs necessarily, and set it up to fit their system. What sounds good on someone elses amp system may not sound good at all on theirs. Every piece in the systems needs to be tuned together, including the type of cables you use and the deeper you go into the pramaters the more you need to know what the processor is seeing downstream or they could end up fighting one another. Fome someone who don't understand programming the MPX 1, I still think a good approach is to find a Lexicon setting that sounds good with your system, save it to the user bank, and then edit it to your taste.

Thanks everyone for chimin in , sorry for the delay in getting back , I went musky fishing for 4 days and all I caught was bluegills, cause I gave up on the muskys, and the 35 MPH winds.
Jonathon , Great pics on your website of Lloyd and Hughey and you of course, that had to be fun for you, Thanks for the settings,
Buddy, I may be calling you for the costs, Its probably a good idea to have those settings first off and then my own settings after yours, Thanks , I`ll think it over,
