I believe that is Bob Hempker playing steel...he was with Loretta on the road for 20 some years. He is a Forum member.
Hal Rugg did most of the Studio work for Loretta over the years, but Bob could nail ever thing Hal did in the Studio. Bob still is a Great Player as this tribute to John Hughey will show.

Is that Dave Thornhill also pickin beside Hempker in the Loretta Lynn video? Thornhill and Hempker's tribute to Conway and Hughey in the second video is masterful and touching.

I guess (based on the way she sang "One's on the Way") that must have been here in Edmonton - must be the Edmonton Symphony or some subset of it with them. Loretta is the real deal! I'm thinking this must be from around the real early 80's - I saw her in Toronto around that time. |
