Michael James, Forum Member announced a new tuning he came up with a few months ago and his set up was as follows: High to Low.......
1. F
2. D
3. B
4. G
5. E
6. C
I added a high G (012) on top and a high C (018) on the bottom. Allowing 2 root tones.
A nice 8 string lap steel non pedal tuning I would say. I chose a Beatles Song "Something" to demonstrate the potential of this tuning.
Thanks Michael and my best to you.

yeah, that works for me too. beautiful. the harmonies are rich. I love Mike's tuning. I discover things with each session. those two extra strings really broadens the sound. your lap steel almost sounds like it has pedals.
Roy, you play the way I hope to some day.
thanks for posting. |

Many thanks for having a listen and the comments.
I wanted to keep Mike's original set up intact and that's why I put the added strings ..one on top and one on the bottom. It works well for me!

Hey Dale ...I am spending next March at Indian Shores but will not be taking any instrument. I would like to have a 6 string Spanish to strum and maybe write a solo or two while there.
You are fairly close right??
Send me a Forum email if you think we may be able to hook up? Would look forward to that if possible.

Hi Len,
Glad you liked that!
The verse part of the song is in
C Major..the Bridge is in A major.
Hope that answers your question?

Hi Roy:
I have a Peavey Power Slide that I will try your tuning on. I have one lap steel that I have changed so many different times that sounds good and I don't know what tuning it is. I'll document it before I break a string.
