Proud to be getting my first Emmons this Saturday.i grew up in Carrboro, 30 minutes down the road from the shop.we had a bunch of relatives in Burlington & Graham,NC.I've long wanted an Emmons & they always seemed to escape me.when a used one came along at a price that was close to what I could handle,i'd just gotten something else...I just always missed them.usually though,i was always short financially.that didn't kill the dream.I'm very blessed to have met one of the country's top Emmons mechanics a couple of hours away from me.He told me he'd watch out for a good used one.I still,as much faith as I tried to maintain, figured it was a long shot.now after wanting one since 1972,i'm only a day away from being there.a good friend who has long been my biggest inspiration since I started learning to play in 1975,commented on the FaceBook page pic that I posted of my new "sweetheart".his comment, simply "you're home" really says a lot....yeah,although,i love where I live,i do miss "home"...I've had steels built in Texas & Tennesee & Colorado, all places I hold dear, but getting the Emmons will be a lot like going back home for me.i probably got my love of music from my mom,she was a church choir member(same church)most of her life & played piano & organ.she encouraged my steel playing & used to come hear me play with a couple of bands I was in.Her family,a lot of them, were the relatives I had from the Burlington area. There aren't many of us left now,so this is like going back home in a lot of ways.Talked to Rebecca Lashley @ the shop the other day & it sure sounds like Emmons is still in good hands & that they haven't lost any of the small town friendliness that is part of their heritage. Thanks(God Bless him) Ron Sr,for taking the time to talk to me when I was a kid,Ron Jr.& Rebecca for keeping Emmons Guitar Co.going,Billy Knowles @ Steel Guitar East,Clyde Mattocks & thanks to my wife, who, for a long time now, must've thought Emmons was the only word in my vocabulary...God Bless,Bob Poole

It's refreshing to hear a positive story about this manufacturer for a change. Thank you, Mr. Poole.

These black Emmons that are popping up here lately are really starting to manifest a little voice over my left shoulder. First a refurb job and now a brand spanker. Happy pickin, Mr. Bob!

Here's one for y'all if you've ever been in the MI or music store business...

Question: How many guitar salesmen does it take to sell a guitar?

Answer: I don't know. Let me call the factory.

I have played Emmons guitars since the mid 70's and currently play a 1999 LeGrand III. I will probably die before I sell it. The quality they have is sometime missing in current steels.
