Surely I am not the first to do this. I dropped my tribo tone bar and it has one small bur on the end, other than that it is fine. I am torn between sanding it or attempting to use a heat source to remove the burr, any thoughts? _________________ Die with Memories. Not Dreams.

If you mean "on the tip", I'd sand it if you play with the tip. If you don't play with the tip, I'd ignore it.
If you mean "on the flat near an end", I'd secure it in a lathe and make it smaller by the depth of the burr. Use a sanding block larger than the playing surface and use a VERY high grit, with three zeros and a number higher than 3. And stop dropping it. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

Thanks Lane,
I was wondering if heat would remove the bur? It is not bad enough too turn down it is just enough to be irritating. It is on the round end and I play with it up most the time. The bur not the bar! _________________ Die with Memories. Not Dreams.

I would not mess with it at all. It should work fine as is. Maybe wait till Eric sees your post. _________________ Bob |

I'd had the tribotone confused with the stone bars. I'd handle a nicked tribotone with a Sharpie.
Mark the nick, and draw the shortest line to the Long edge. Keep that side up. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

The day I received my new Tribotone a couple years ago, my wife picked up the tube it was in & asked, what's this? It slid right out and skated across the concrete!
She was more upset than I was...
Anyway, I wet sanded the flaws and polished it with a cotton buff. It's very much like working car paint or a plastic headlight. You don't want to get it too hot.
After a couple months of use it gets a patina of sorts, so a perfect polishing isn't really vital. |

I dressed with a fingernail file then buffed it out, feels fine. I have an L bar. I would like the same bar but four inches long for my 12 string lap steel. I hope they start up again soon. _________________ Die with Memories. Not Dreams.
