you may not need one - the body of your guitar is the ground plane (because its all metal) and if the output jack is not isolated then you are probably good to go!

A pedal steel is unlike a 6 string guitar where the bridge is isolated by wood and could add noise if it is not grounded.

if you are doing this on a 6 string guitar, then forget everything I just wrote Smile

Strings/bridge should be grounded... especially if you are using single coil Stringmaster pickups.

Many guitars run a star ground from the back of one of the pots... a wire from the jack would be fine.

If you are using a bridge or bridge plate that is screwed down to the wood surface, then you can just drill a hole from the control cavity to somewhere under the bridge. The bare wire is usually just squished between the wood and the bridge plate.

If your bridge is on adjustable screws that go into the wood, usually the hole is drilled into one of the insert holes so the bare wire is crimped when the insert is installed. Hope that answers your question.
