| Hi to all my name is Greg I am from Australia and I am desperate to purchase a steel guitar. I cannot find one here and I have joined the forum to find the right one for me. I have found that not to many players or sellers ship outside of the states. If anyone can help me or has advice I am open to any help or information. Hi Greg. Many players get them shipped over and reputable builders like Fred will do the right thing. The dollar exchange is a not favourable however. There are steels available on the Brisbane site as mentioned and check out e-bay and gumtree occasionally.
Many dealers will also send second hand ones over as well but you want some one who has a good track record. Do your homework on their reputation on this forum. Good luck |

| I've bought a couple of s/h guitars from forum brothers here - no probs. Should only cost a few hundred in freight. Then you have 5 or 10 percent duty on the steel and then another 10 per cent GST (VAT) on the steel and the freight and the duty. Then your import brokers fees (less than a hundred) Still works out OK. Current exchange rate is not bad (at .95 or so) I bought a brand new steel over at 65 cents to the US dollar in 2008, sold it reluctantly later in Australia when the exchange rate was more or less parity. Lost about a thousand bucks on a brand new steel in that transaction! |
