whose got em ? I need a few long ones...
not opposed to making them if it's not too much trouble. all the welding rods I have seen are somewhat pointed at the ends....
I moved some things around on my Emmons and now need longer rods. Bobbe Seymour doesn't have them anymore apparently. I emailed Mike and Tommy Cass, hoping one of them will help me out but also looking for other options. thank you...

I can't recall the diameter, but I was able to buy a couple of 4 ft length rods at the local welding supply. I cut them to the desired length and tapered the ends on a sander slightly; to facilitate their passing through bellcranks and into the changer lowering finger. Took about 10 minutes total time.

I did like Tony, I get mine at a welding supply store.
On the pull rods, you need to hammer a flat spot on one end and drill a hole for the wire that hooks to the changer finger.
Sometimes the welding rod already has a flat spot on one end.
I found that a good wire to use are the ones with the little flag that they use for marking utilities. They have the right tension.

Go to a real welding supply shop, not a dumbed-down hardware store like Home Depot or True Value. At a welding shop you can buy 36 inch lengths of 1/8th inch welding rod. You will probably have a choice of 304 or 316 stainless. Sometimes 304 or 302 is just called 18-8 stainless. But get the 316. Set screws work better with 316.

Karan: The welding shops have the rods for Emmons Guitars. I just got a few at a local shop. On one side of the rod end is stamped this number S16208 and on the other side of the rod end is stamped ER316L. I have no idea what the numbers mean but the rods look exactly like the original rods on my guitar. They fit the bell cranks etc. I just took a rod with me to the welding shop as a sample and the clerk seemed to know what I was looking for right away. They were only like $2.00 each. Hope this helps. NM

You can get a Dye from Napa to cut the threads ..Use some cutting fluid to aid the threads.

The best place I have found to get rod material is Fastenal. They catalog stainless steel rod in about any size you need including the 7/64 inch rod that some companies like Emmons used for rods. The rod stock is 20 feet long sections. Just tell them what length you want and they will cut it for you. Makes the shipping cheaper.

We are talking about push pull rods here. No threads, 0.125 diameter 316 stainless and the advantage of using welding rod is it has the flat stamped neatly at the end if you need to drill for a raise hook. The stamped end looks nicer than an end mashed with a hammer.

Karen,

never received an email from you...try this one: mwillsteel@comcast.net or call 615-446-5952.

I stock new Emmons factory made 1/8" and 7/64" p/p raise rods and 1/8" p/p lower rods.

p/p bellcranks are currently not available from the Emmons Co., but you might be able to ask around and dig up a few....Ron jr. tells me that they're coming in the future.
