Hello Dave;
Congratulations on your new pedal steel.
You have a great one there & you are right about
Fran & Frank - both are SUPER folks!
Enjoy your new baby.
Ron

I have know Frank & Fran for many years. None better. I have seen and played some of the guitars Frank did rebuilds on (mostly MCI/EMCI) and his work is second to none. I haven't seen an Infinity in person, but can't imagine another guitar being built any better.

Is "new infinity" an oxymoron?

Yes John, just like "to infinity and beyond".
I've had an Infinity S12u for a few months now and continue to really like it.
Dave, what do you think of the string height off the neck?
It measures 3/4" which is quite a bit more than my previous guitar. It was the only thing I had to work at getting used to. I'm fine with it now.

Wayne...you will have to come down and check it out

John...lots of things about me are oxymoron's Smile

Jim...mine measures a little less than 5/8". I think Frank mentioned something about the necks being higher...wasn't sure what he meant, it seems like it is very easy to play in tune. All I know is it the best steel I have ever played.

Very nice guitar, love those pedals. Shades of the old push pull pedal but better.

Infinity guitars are just gorgeous works of art. Frank is a great player, as well. During jams you don't have to look up to know who's turn it is. It's a shame he couldn't name them after himself, but I understand his name is Franklin Carter Smile

Yes you are right on the name...he told me someone said he should combine the names and call them a Farter.

The pedals are comfortable...much nicer than the flat ones...pedal and lever action is very smooth and a nice positive half stop for the second string.

Everytime I play it or check it out I keep noticing more cool details

The pedal rack and the way the pedals attach is awsome too. On can put a pedal anywher along the rack. They slide in grooves and are locked in position with one set screw. One can fool with side to side positioning if one so desires. They don't have to be fixed at certain intervals. The rack is heavy duty where it needs to be and feels very stable under foot.

I sat down at an Infinity a couple years ago at Dallas and they are great feeling and playing guitars and the tone was awesome.
As for the pedals, I think they, along with the old Emmons Push Pull pedals, are the very best designed pedals on any steel guitar. They are slick on top which lets your show sole slip as pedals are pressed instead of catching on a grove. The width never did matter to me.The old Sho-Bud Design was just aweful to play for me because of the little diamond groves which would bind on my shoe sole and make the pull out of tune.
