I'm running my Hilton ME262-B through my fender twin into my MSA with a George L pickup. When I use the Hilton, my tone becomes noticeably more gritty, and the high end is difficult to control. I am aware of the tone screw on the pedal, but I can't seem to use that to correct the problem of the grit. Any insight would be helpful! |

Whats the chain Pattern? Should be Steel to pedal 'in'...Pedal 'out' to Amp...
Your posts sounds like your using the volume pedal in an effects chain when you say; to your amp and into the MSA _________________ A.K.A Chappy. |

No effects involved, everything is plugged in to the correct outputs/inputs. Just trying to give a full idea of my setup is all. |

Have you tried backing the volume down on the pedal,[ the one underneath] i run mine at about 60 per cent because it overdrives my pre-amps...As far as the screechy highs, i'm lost...It sounds like the pre-amp isent happy either in the amp or the pedal?...Just a thought!
When i set mine up, i turn the pedal all the way up with the volume pedal wide open...Then i hit the low strings hard and then back off the adjustable volume pot underneath the pedal, until my pre-amp no longer distorts.
Also when using a Tube amp, those valves don't like too much signal, unlike a solid state where you can hit em hard with a belt of signal to get that thump. _________________ A.K.A Chappy. |

Have you checked the voltage coming from the power supply? If the voltage is not in the recommended range that can wreak havoc on the signal which comes out.
The other thing I am wondering if if you get the same results with all of your amps, or all of the amps which you have a chance to the pedal with if your frinds or bandmates can let you try ine of their amps.
I am not that familiar with Hilton Pedels but I work with audio gear all of the time so I do have experience with chaing down problems. _________________ Regards

I had some issues with my used Hilton and eventually found the small volume pot was stripped.
Easily fixed with a locally found pot for about $0,60.
It works well now, but I am thinking of changing the heavy transformer with something lighter.
We use 220 volt in South Africa.
There are only three wires going into the pedal.
Which one is earth?
Any suggestions please.
