Hey all,
I just recently purchased a BBE sonic Maximizer 482i to run in front of my NV400.
I have a two options that worked so far but I want to be sure not to hurt either the amp or the BBE SM.
On the NV400 there is a pre amp out and power amp in on the back, and on the front there is a before pre amp loop. The BBE SM has an in and an out for each of its 2 channels. Should I run the chord out of the chain like this?
(steel)-----(volume pedal)----(amp)----(out of preamp)---in of (BBE)-(Out of BBE) to (power amp in)?
or
(steel)-----(volume pedal)----(amp)----(out of before preamp loop)---in of (BBE)-(Out of BBE) to (in of pre amp loop)?
I tried to run it in like just like an effects box but I didnt recieve any sound??? Thanks for the help. _________________ Mullen G2 SD10 , Lil Izzy Buffer, Goodrich 120 volume pedal, Boss DD-7, Peterson Strobo flip, Peavey Nashville 112 |

Maximizer is pretty much a one trick pony. I can't think of a practical use with a good functioning NV400. What are you hoping it will do for you?

If you want a consistant performance from it on every song for example, you might try this;
Steel to BBE, then to pedal and then to amp. Why?
Because with fluctuation volume [after the volume pedal], the BBE will always be changing it's characteristics and searching, like a compressor varying with waveform.
Keep output low from BBE so as to not eat up the Pot in the volume pedal, however with that said, some steel guitar pick-ups tear up the pre-amp in pedals...Worse case i would run it after the Volume pedal. _________________ A.K.A Chappy. |

Im hoping that it cleans up the sound and enhances string seperation and tone. I hear it doing just what I want it to do, I just don't want to hurt my NV400. I guess It was either the BBE S.M. or A lil izzy. I got the BBE cheaper so I went with it.
I just wanted to clean up my sound. I will try running it second in the signal. Thanks guys _________________ Mullen G2 SD10 , Lil Izzy Buffer, Goodrich 120 volume pedal, Boss DD-7, Peterson Strobo flip, Peavey Nashville 112 |

An Emmons PP with original pickup, through a good volume pedal to a Nashville 400 is as good or better than some device such as the maximizer. Its not needed.
I don't know how you have the Nashville 400 set, but Pre Gain control LOWER than the Post level control, Low +9, Mid -2 to -3, Frequency 800HZ, Highs and Presence at +1 is a good place to start. |

Yeah you are all correct. I wasn't getting any better a tone from the maximizer than without it. I think the Emmons PP (black of course) with its original single coil - goodrich 120- PV NV400 is just an amazing tone. I actually use a Boss -DD and that probably buffers the sound all it needs. _________________ Mullen G2 SD10 , Lil Izzy Buffer, Goodrich 120 volume pedal, Boss DD-7, Peterson Strobo flip, Peavey Nashville 112 |

The rest is up to your hands, your head, and your heart...
Too many toys will not only mess with your signal itself, but will actively impede your playing in two ways: First is the lost practice time spent fooling with them until they either work for you or you ditch them, and second - and more importantly - is the failure to notice what you need to be working on once you do get them to "work" for you....
Keep picking that thing |
