My humble offering of this lovely standard, played on 2 lap steels (tuned C13 and C6/A7) and upright bass. Steel is a Clinesmith S8.

How damned tasty!

There's a bunch of folks that could take a lesson or to (or three) from you. Just great listening.

I enjoyed that a lot! Say Mike, ever thought bout putting a jazz trio or quartet together to play jazz standards and bebop? Wouldn't it be great to hear lap steel in the context of a dynamic jazz group?

Thanks for all the nice comments. I'm sure (I hope) that I'd play it differently, and hopefully better, today. This one was recorded some time last year.

Wonderful! Would you care about recording Charlie Chaplin's "Smile" one day, Mike?

Mike,
I have not been on the forum for a while and only recently listened to your rendition of 'Nearness of You". I think it is just great. I love the Steel Guitar doing the accompanying chords, and the tone of the lead instrument is beautiful.
Also great single note improvisation; and a beautiful touch that I like very much.

I think it is great that different people take the same tune, and approach it very differently.

I’m looking forward to more. Thanks for posting,
Sez
