just found this absolutely wonderful version of a classic country song.. The gals of course are both legendary singers and were both fashion model gorgeous, and the steel is stunning.. However it was had to be in the very upper echelon of players during the 60's.. Weren't a whole lot of players with the chops to play this way 50 years ago...
any ideas as to who this steel player is??..bob

It's Dickie Overby, from a 2005 album, Loneliest Star In Texas, by Norma Jean on "Heart of Texas" records. Great record! |

Ohhh.. Its a contemporary record... I thought it was from decades ago... Wow, the gals sounded GREAT...
I have heard a lot of Dickie's work with Amber Digby, and yes he is a a great player..
I just thought this was a vintage recording....duh... bob _________________ I'm over the hill and hittin'rocks on the way down!

Heart of Texas Records really knows how to record steel guitar, fiddles and well, just about every instrument out there. The Nashville records made lately make the steel sound thin and pretty pathetic. The fidelity of the Texas records is just amazing. Even the drums have that great crisp snare sound and tight bass kick.
