I have a Goodrich LDR volume pedal and I really love it.The action is smooth and it sounds great.
But ...when I use it with both "AMP" outputs at the same time (i.e one with the amp plugged in and the other with another amp,or mixing board, or tuner plugged in) I hear an "electronic" TICK (not a mechanical one)when going from the pedal UP to DOWN or DOWN to UP position.
I've opened it and everything looks ok.
Any idea?
Thanks for your help. |

Pick up a gizmo called a HUM-X. You plug it into a wall and the plug your power strip into the Hum-X then plug you LDR volume pedal and amp into the power strip. Could be some interference with some other effect or ground loop. |

Thanks Len,but it's not a hum,it's a ticking noise.
And that HUM-X thing is pretty expensive too. |

Try one output at a time, to see if its one of the outputs. Also, try a different guitar cord. |

Do you have a different volume pedal that you can use to test?
I'm a former amp tech and I'm trying to visualize what it could be. Does the click come from one amp all the time? or is it from both amps? I would still suspect something to do with both amps connected to the output of the volume pedal. Both outputs are in parallel, not isolated (which is probably what you need). |

Thanks Jack,
I usually play at home with a Pod xt and headphones (no amp)
The ticking noise comes ONLY when I plug my Peterson Stobo Plus HD tuner into the volume pedal's 2nd AMP output.
Now,same combination with an amp instead of my Pod xt:NO TICK
Now back to the Pod xt combination (no amp)but with another VP (Goodrich L120):NO TICK
Seems to me there is an incompatibility between Goodrich LDR and Pod XT !!!
Is it possible?And why ???
Thanks to you I'm convinced now my Goodrich LDR is a good one
But...what should I do to get rid of that "TICK" with the Pod xt? Any idea?
Thank you again. |

I tried that combination with my POD XT and POD X3 and do not have the tick.
I have a Hilton VP and a StrobOPlus HD. I do not get any "tick" or any noise with that combination and either the POD XT or X3. I also have a Goodrich 120 (Pot) Volume Pedal. There is no tick with that either.
It would appear to be an issue with the LDR and two devices plugged into it.
Can you connect a 47K ohm resistor (maybe a 22K Ohm would work) in the lead to the tuner? That would provide some isolation. The Resistor value isn't critical, just trying to get some isolation. Put the resistor on the "hot" lead, not the ground side.
Hilton has a mod for his pedal of using a resistor to isolate one of the volume pedal jacks for a tuner. What I suggest, using the resistor for testing, would do the same thing. |

You mean I should put the resistor on the Pod side, not the volume pedal side ???
Or am I wrong?
Anyway I'll connect a resistor as soon as I can get one.
(I didn't even know what a resistor was)
Thank you again ! |

Jack, never mind.I'll try to show your replies to a friend of mine who's much more electronicaly oriented than I am.Anyway, any other ideas are welcome.
Thank you again. |

The resistor goes on the "hot" (center) lead of the guitar cord between the Volume Pedal and the Tuner Input. That isolates the tuner. |

I've found that certain regenerating devices will click when regenerating. You may look into delays, either in your amps or effects. Also possible and I say possible ground could cause that with a ungrounded cord. Check all your cords. |
