I'm really enjoying Paul Franklin and Vince Gill's great tribute to the legendary 'Bakersfield' country sound ala Buck and Merle. Thank-you, Paul and Vince.

I know this album was just released, but wouldn't it be great if there was a 'volume two' in the future. Volume two could cover other great (and in some cases, lesser known) Bakersfield stars. What'da think?

For grins, I've picked out some suggestions for Paul and Vince.

Wynn Stewart & Jan Howard:

Yes, I know there are women artists... I figure Vince could invite Patty Loveless to sing the duets

What songs would you like to hear on a hypothetical "Bakersfield II" album?

Keep on pickin'!
Glenn

Nice stuff, Joe. I see a couple of familiar names in the credits -- Ken Nelson and Tommy Collins. Those boys also played a big part in Merle's success, as did Moon.

I would buy it. I like Buck and Merle a lot but I think it would be awesome if they did some Wynn Stewart songs or any of the great Bakersfield artist songs.

Right you are, Ron. Ken Nelson was the A&R man for Capitol Records country music division. He pretty much orchestrated the development of what became the "Bakersfield Sound". Speaking of west coast country here are some more choices to cover on a hypothetical "Bakersfield II" album.

Among Ken's stable of artists was Skeets McDonald:

Dick Curless and Kay Adams with Mooney on steel:

Warren Smith, with Mooney on steel again:
