Topic: Removing A Changer (BMI) |

Hey yall,
It's time to do some deep cleaning on one of my steels. How do I go about removing the changer on a BMI? Can't quite tell which screws hold the changer in and which don't. Thanks! |

Other than removing the pull rods (catch all the plastic spacers and the steel standoffs) and the return springs, loosen the stop plate (that you can't see until the rods and the springs have been removed) attached to the inside of the end plate by removing the screws from the tuning side of the end plate, remove the 2 screws that secure the change axle then slide the changer axle out- taking care to catch the washers on each side of the changer fingers and the fingers should then basically just drop out. A good thing to do is to sand/file, etc the stop plate flat in order to insure that the fingers come back to rest each time and don't get stuck in worn grooves that they sometimes cause. Since this is from my suspect memory, your results may vary.  |
