So I'm watching Jimmy Buffet this morning, second song in and the Steel player gets a lead ride, but the camera is on some guy playing a resonater gtr. Us steel players just can't get any respect or notice at all!! Frustrating ain't it?

camera guy also featured Mac again when lead player had a solo. Doyle G was hidden in the back as usual but at least he's still there! A great player.

Doyle lives somewhere around Nashville, Fairview I think. Also, see http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=250825

Brett..........Actually Doyle does play a GFI on the road in the Buffett band and has one at home I believe but he also has a couple of Emmons PP's that he plays from time to time in other situations. A single 10 and a D 10. Doyle is an extremely fine player and a great person. Known him since 1953. Comes from a very talented family. All great people.
Worked for the Glaser's quite a long time among others.

He probably played his Emmons guitars on Randy Travis's records

Doyle is definitely a nice guy. We tried to connect up at a recent outdoor concert in Chicago but he ended up very gracefully saying he couldn't break away. He was playing the GFI.

Here's his website for your reference.

Funny, we've got 2 threads about Doyle running concurrently here, like two life sentences, and I don't remember ever seeing him on the Forum. He is a good player and a good guy.

I played steel guitar on a demo session at Fireside in Nashville years ago where he was the producer, and it was a pleasurable experience. He's been with Jimmy Buffett for years, and he does Fridays at Binkley's Junkyard in Fairview when he's in town. I subbed for him a few times when he was out stepping on a pop top.
Cool, how the photog managed to get the Emmons logo in there between me and that homely chick singer, eh? Winking

They must've hired a different camera man.

The steeler gets good camera time in this clip. Come Monday, lead break starts at about 2:12
