anyone have one or two at a realistic price?.. just bought a 70's msa S 10 w/ 3 and 4 and it has room for 2 pedals.. also bought an old marlen and would like a 4th pedal for that... I would prefer used ones at a fair price. if I can find two it would be great, but I'd be happy with just one as well.. .. I would consider a similar looking pedal as well, doesn't need to be an exact match as long as its of a fairly similar design and I can make it work... I will also need some MSA pull parts, bellcranks, cross shafts etc.. I know I can get them new, but would prefer to find as much decent used stuff as I can to keep cost down.. I used to have tons of MSA parts but after I sold my last MSA everything was sold and given away...
Same thing goes for the old Marlen.. I plan on adding one pedal.. If I can't get a Marlen pedal, perhaps an oddball that is workable.. same deal with marlen pull parts.. I would like to see if anybody has anything used they can part with at reasonable money, before i buy new msa stuff or have the parts made for the marlen... ...

As far as the look of the pedal goes, these are players guitars and I am less concerned about aesthetics than I am about functionality.. If they are fairly close, its good... Check your old pedal steel junk drawers... bob

Regarding the Marlen parts, do you want just the pedal, or do you want the pedal, pedal rod, pedal crank, cross shaft with stop, and bellcranks, rods and collars? Is it pull release or all pull? Which axle diameter and do you have a photo of the pedals you are matching?

Chris its an old PR... I do not have the guitar here as yet.. Its been paid for and should be here this coming week. I would probably want the entire set uo.. A lot depends on if I can learn how to tune this set up correctly, and work on it effectively.. I may just bail out on it, and put it right back on the forum is I have to fight with it.. If you have any PR parts, let me know, and I will email you as soon as I know more about what I have, and what I need..

I am much more interested in the MSA pedals right now, because I understand those guitars very well, and its my plan to use the MSA at gigs just as soon as I get it here... bob

You might try emailing Michael Y. He had a few, but he's not producing anything: he might be in a position to sell inventory. Like I posted last week, I *might* have one or two available after I get done with the Bud. It's my first priority project (unless I end up hurting for money), and then I've got an idea for a project with the MSA that will require fewer pedals than its current 10.
But with my current work schedule, the second priority project is quite a ways off...

Lane.. I know Michael pretty well and I know he would take care of me.. The problem is, he took down all inventory on his website, no one can order right now, and from what I can determine, he won't be up for a few months.. That tells me the man is extremely busy getting his business set up... I don't want to bother him until he's ready to go.. He has enough to do right now.. I will get some MSA pedals somewhere, there are enough to go around... Linkon Guitars in Canada has them at times, but I would prefer used ones if I can get them.. They show up on ebay on occasion..bob

Bob, I've no doubt you could get the hang of pull-release.
It's kinda like push-pull, but instead of a separate half finger for lowers, there's a rod that lets 'em drop.
Half an hour of watching the underside work and it makes sense.
Unless I'm just weird enough to relate to it.

I have lots of Marlen parts, but it sounds like you do not know what you want to do yet. So you can ask again when you know what you want.

Thats fair enough Chris.. You are right, I really don't know what I'm going to need as yet. It all depends on how much I can learn on dealing with this mechanism.. Right now its 3 and 4 which isn't enough for me.. I generally play 5 and 5, or 6 and 4.. I can deal with 9 changes, and 8 is an absolute bare minimum.. If I can't add at least one pull, I will not be happy with the guitar, no matter how good it plays, looks and sounds. Its very good to know that you have some Marlen parts on hand, and I'll be in touch by PM or email when I have had a chance to look the guitar over carefully... bob
