A local guitar dealer has just got in a Gibson D8 console steel, and hasn't yet priced it. It looks like it has p90's or some such fat single coils. Anybody know what the general price tag on these things run?
Thanks! |

It's impossible to guesstimate a price given the information so far. Without knowing which model you're talking about and the condition of the guitar, you might as well pick a random price.
The Guitar Base database shows two doubleneck Gibsons currently being offered by other dealers; a Consolette is offered for $799 and a Grand Console is offered for $525.
Then again, Gibson BR-9 lap steels are offered for between $500 and $600 (they normally go for between $200 and $400 on eBay)!

I met Don Helms at the ISGC this year. He brought his "Hank Williams" Gibson D-8 with him. He told me that a collector once asked him if he would take "six figures" for it. Don's reply was "That would depend which six figures you're talking about."
Most of those guitars sell in the $800 range, though.

Thanks for the guesstimates. When I go back, I'll find out the exact model for a more accurate price guess |
