My setup is predicated on the D# (it rests at B6, raises to E9) strings hitting a half-stop together and both finishing at E#/F. Since you can't change leverage, would the following work, and if not, why not?
Tune the D#s open.
Tune the F of the SLOWEST (I think that's 4) string with its raise rod.
Tune the E of the slowest string at the half stop.
Tune the E of the FASTEST string with the raise rod
Tune the F of the fast string with the lowering rod, just like tunable splits.

Lane,
I can't quite wrap my head around that solution (let me have another cup of coffee), but you can gain a significant amount of flexibility in the 1/1 Sho Bud changer by adjusting the return spring tension. It will never match the precision of the 3/3 changer with 5 or more bell crank holes, but it gives you more timing possibilities than might seem to be possible with this system. |
