The girlfriend told me that PSG isn't "sexy". I asked her how she came to that conclusion and she told me that it was too "boxy"-looking.

We're living in different times for sure. Have you ever asked your gf, wife, or domestic assistant a similar question? What was her response?

My wife thinks that steel guitar is very sexy! I sang one song in my entire playing career (Down To Seeds And Stems Again Blues, at an FOP Christmas Party) As a result, we've been happily married for 30+ years. I've met a lot of gals who love the instrument!

My wife loves the steel and thinks it's quite sexy.
Maybe you just need a bigger tone bar?

It certainly doesn't look sexy and it doesn't have much stage presence. It can definitely make a very sexy sound, though, with the swells and slides and transitions of major and minor chords.

I've found that the only women who show interest are the music nerds. Take it for what you will that most women don't see an appeal.

Not exactly a handsome looking bunch, are we? Conversely, there does some to be a pretty high proportion of attractive female players, or maybe I am just naturally biased.

I usually try to cover all the scarring and general homliness with as much hair as possible.

Joachim, you look like you stepped out of one of the great novel from the 19th Century. That's not a bad look.

Disagree... If you are young and handsome the chicks will like you no matter what you play, pedal steel included.. When you are middle aged, bald, fat, and have lost your looks, it doesn't matter what you play... You could have been the world's sexiest guitar slinger singer at lets say 25-30. Chicks all over you always..
30 years later the same person doing the exact same thing gets giggled at for looking foolish..
"look at that old man trying to be cool"'...
Girls like youth and good looks in the musicians they listen too. They are superficial, just like most men... bob

My girlfriend left me for a banjo player. She loves the banjo. Thinks it's sexy. Laughing

Now that really hurts, Bud!

I don't think women are real impressed when the gig is on the second floor and we need help carrying our gear up the stairs... Smile

I sure am not one to think I am sexy but my Emmons LeGrande III looks pretty hot. Years ago as a young man, where I attended church I never went out with the ladies. However, when they wanted to go sing somewhere I was the first one they called. Back then I had rather play music anyway. Now having 20 years of marriage my hair is coming out, I am getting wrinkles and aging but my Emmons LeGrande III still looks pretty hot.

So besides up/down, girl/boy, black/white, in/out, yin/yang etc., is it therefore safe to say
a further manifestation of Ye Olde Dichotomy Grande is:

studly-hot guitarist + beat-up relic'd guitar/
studly-hot steel guitar + beat-up relic'd steel guitarist? Shocked

What do you call a pretty woman on a Banjo players arm? .....A Tattoo. Seriously guys, If you want to get lucky, don't show up at the gig dressed like The Urban Cowboy.

Well, MOST steel pickers are overweight, balding, snarly old men who never smile. Kinda like most of the pickers who play the older country stuff.........

OK Alan, I'm going for the total makeover. I'm just not sure becoming a happy anorexic with a toupee is going to make a whole lot of difference Smile
