He had a fiddle player, too. And he announces Kenny Aronoff and Billy Burnette, but not the steel player? At the time, he was recording or had just recorded "The Blue Ridge Rangers Rides Again" with Greg Leisz on steel, but that Bowl show - could it be Buddy Cage? |

I was trying to check out your link on my Mac Mini and after it didn't work on Safari I switched to Firefox and the computer message was that the format is not supportable on either browser. _________________ Mark |

Weird, now it's playing...even though I received error messages. And at first I thought it was supposed to be a video file but it's audio only. _________________ Mark |

So...I found some YouTubes of the July 3 2009 show from the Hollywood Bowl but they were all long distance taken by audience members and pretty poor quality. I thought I heard some steel on Broken Down Cowboy but it was hard to tell because the L.A. Philharmonic is also playing.
I found a good quality video of the same song from 2010, John has a lap steel player on this one, I don't recognize him right off, but he adds some tasty understated playing to the song - don't know if he would have been the same guy at the Hollywood Bowl the year prior :

On a more recent tour in the past year or two Nashville producer, multi-instrumentalist and dobro ace Randy Kohrs toured with Fogerty. I think he switched off between lap steel (Duesenberg standing with a strap), dobro, and electric guitar. _________________ Mark |

It for sure wasn't Cage.
