Hopefully Bobby Ingano and Jeff Au Hoy will make it to this year's all day event.

Bobby sez he'll be out of State and that Jeff has agreed to fill in, so maybe he'll stick around and make the day's event steel worthy.

Sounds good, David, the more fine steelers at this event the better as steel was Gabby's first instrument and one of my fave players.
I'm betting there will be more steelers than just Jeff and Paul, I'm expecting Greg Sardinha and hoping for nice suprises.

I've never heard even a hint of the 'nalo backyard style in Alan's playing so he wasn't on my radar for this event, but he was able to pull off some very credible East Indian stylings with Debashish Bhattacharya years ago so anything's possible with his fingers. I've also never seen Dwight in person so if he shows up I'll be quite interested in getting his playing on 'tape'.
Where you getting your info?!

Both Alan and Dwight are listed on the event poster...so they should be there. Kanakapila is the Tuesday night band at the Hilo Town Tavern and they have been talking about the gig for a while now. Dwight is a great player and a heck of a great guy too. You'll love him...

I'll be there, too! I'm coming over with Alan Akaka. I'll be hanging with Duke Domingo and the Certos. I hope to have a chance to play.

A wet blanket of weather is trying to dampen the day in Waimanalo, where Hawaiians will smile right thru it all, for the rest of us it's too bad it's no longer celebrated here in sunny Honolulu.

Look's like it all went better than I expected, thanx to no wind, and eventually cleared up even tho they pulled the small crowd inside.
Here's pix, but no captions http://www.honolulupulse.com/2013/08/pics-pahinui-kanikapila-2013/#120816
Jeff get's face time but no great shots of him playing, and no other steelers are seen in pix.
Were you there, Jack?
