The cheap and easy way... I'll let the picture speak for themselves.
The pic below show how to get both sides from one 24" x 24" piece of plywood.

I like it. I was about to replace an ultimate support amp stand that I had stupidly left at a gig in my haste to leave. I'm going to make one of these out of some scrap plywood. Thanks for posting it.

This stand used to have solid spreaders and took up lots storage and transport room. Now, it's 1" thick, and still works great!

NOTE! I did a small edit in the first post. I discovered the angle the amp sits in was not a 90 degree angle. It is corrected, and I cut the back down one inch, so that both panels can cut from one 24" x 24" piece of plywood.

..and then drill a hole in the bottom leading edge of the two 'vertical' pieces of plywood, insert an appropriate length of (black??) nylon cord through both...tie a knot at each end (on the outside) ..and you've got a spreader that collapses for storage/transport, but still sets the two pieces at precisely the correct angle...
