I want to share this with all Reece's friends it shows how he was feeling in the last days and his belief. One sentence sums it all up.

"The doctors felt the need to alter my meds, and when they did it sent me into an outside loop which really has me down. They are making other alterations, but nothing is happening as yet. Everyday is an adventure at the moment.

There was a very powerful and popular song out last year by Trisha Underwood, that I believe answers your question. It was called "Jesus Take The Wheel". He done that very thing for me, and I came out unscathed, although a multitude of things had to happen and be timed absolutely perfectly were I to survive. Noone could EVER convince me it was anything but GOD, because so many things had to be considered and executed perfectly. It seemed like everything suddenly went into S L O W motion and HE navigated the impossible.

Yes my dear friend it's one minute,1 hour and one day at a time for us all. I look forward to Him taking me by the hand on the other side, but like most everyone else I dread losing the touch of my loved ones hands.

Lets both have a blessed day.

Reece

Oh boy! Does that ring a bell. I felt the same way, when, I had my heart attack, last year. Everything was totaly out of my hands and into HIS. I'm not a practising religious person, but, my episode made me think a little deeper about my outcome.
Some truly poignant words.

Thanks Chris I thought it needed to be shared. He was pretty ill at the time and I think we all know what he was saying in terms of Carrie not Trisha. But the best version is with Paul Franklin playing with Vince Gill.

The greatest thing you will ever do, is make 100% for sure you know what happens after death! Sounds like Reece knew for sure!

I can't help but notice that these comments can go on all day, and believers can say anything they want, but as soon as a non-believer chimes in people start commenting on how the forum is not an appropriate place for religious discussions. This is exactly what happened in another thread in the "Our Extended Family" section.
I am deeply saddened by the passing of another steel guitar legend and a good man, but I find it repulsive that people use times like this to promulgate and edify their own religious beliefs.
This is a STEEL GUITAR FORUM. If you want to discuss Mr. Anderson's religious beliefs and how they align with yours, it seems a Christianity forum would be more fitting.

Real simple Mr. Alfstad, don't read the post if you are so repulsed, No one is forcing anybody to read anything, we all have a choice now don't we.
Cheers

Reece faced a conundrum that many have and many will. It’s nice to know how he felt about it.

FWIW, I don't have a problem with the original post. The poster was sharing some of the final thoughts of a fellow steel guitar player, which is relevant to the subject of the forum. I have a problem with the resulting proselytizing and the fact that when a non-believer speaks their mind, it is then that people start crying "foul." (As has happened in many posts on this forum.)

Also, I did not say that I was repulsed by a post. I said that I was repulsed by the actions of some people. In order to know whether a post was going to offend, I would first have to read it. By then the choice whether to read it has already been made, albeit to late, hasn't it Mr. Andrews?

And I truly respect people's right to have differing viewpoints. If it's not clear yet, the problem lies in respect for the opposition. (As evidenced in the post to which I was referring.)

I'm done with this now, and will not even read any more posts in this thread. I am making that choice now, because it is clear that the meaning of my original intent has been lost. But, then again, that's pretty much what I expected would happen.

Dave,

Here are the basic facts, and it is not proselytizing

1. You are going to die just like the rest of us
2. You have no control of when that will happen
3. Reece made his choice and chose heaven according to his last email

What's the problem?

An Outstanding Muscian and a Fine Gentleman, he was an inspiration to many of us. In deepest sympathy,
I offer a copy of my poem:
(originally written for an "old crone", which I am)

As the old crone lies dying,
Those she leaves behind
Mourn the doleful passing
Of ties thaat once did bind.
And as she approaches
The ending of her time,
What says she to them,
To those she leaves behind?

"The most difficult thing I now must do
Is say 'farewell' to all of you,
For in my deepest love
You each I hold;
But my Maker has called,
And I must go."

And so Reese returned to his Maker, leaving loved ones behind with years of precious memories.

Sincerely, Del Bonn
MO EHarpist

Dave,
I wouldn't have thought I would have to put up with this here because the forum is primarily made up of men and women who proclaim Jesus as their Savior. You have a right to your opinion but one thing for sure is this.....political correctness is not needed here. You claim that "..., but as soon as a non-believer chimes in people start commenting on how the forum is not an appropriate place for religious discussions."

Dave, everywhere you look the media is trampling on the voices of the conservatives. Everywhere. They don't ever want to accept another viewpoint. There is nor religious tolerance any longer.

So Dave.....when you see that the topic is titled "Gone Home"....might you think this is talking about, possibly, going to Heaven, about God, about Jesus and the saved?

You are out of line here. No problem though, since you aren't reading any additional posts.

To Donna Dodd and B0b....I apologize if I am out of line here.

Dave,
I know what Reece believed, I know where he is. I comfort in that even though I miss him greatly. One of the most difficult things for me to do is what Jesus said was most important thing for us to do, which is Love. We all tire of being persecuted and ridiculed for our beliefs. But I ask you friend, just pray for your enemies or those who ridicule you, and ask for love for these lost souls. He is there for all those who seek to find him.
Godspeed Brother

Back in the early 60's while stationed at Tyndall AFB in Panama City, Florida, in the newspaper every Sunday, in large print, were the words "THE CHRISTIAN FAITH IS STRONGER THAN THE WHINING OF INFIDELS-IT IS MORE POWERFUL THAN THOSE WHO BELITTLE THEM WHO POSSESS IT!" I really miss those days.

Niels,
Thanks for reminding me that trials will always come...but the way we deal with them shows people that we are the saved. When Jesus asked us to love our enemies He didn't say so because we couldn't do it. He knew we could/should and will.
Niels, just another thanks for a fellow Christian reminding me that it can and should be done.

Godspeed to you also Niels.

A side note.....my first steel guitar was an MSA semiclassic. Maurice touched a lot of people with his life. Just so good to know that he was a Christian.

Regardless of our religious beliefs, or lack of, I hope tolerance, forgiveness, and gratitude is something we can all agree on.

I will miss Reece and considered him a friend.
