Topic: White Marlen fretboards?curious if they made them? |

After seeing white fretboards on some SHO~BUDs, I've been tormenting myself with the thought of finding or making some white ones for my Marlen with the musical notes. Have yet to find a picture or evidence of Marlen w/such. Any of you Marlen
owners/fans with any knowledge or recollection of seeing them?
Just curious and like the thought of them.

yes they made them. I had this stuff a LONG LONG time ago..no idea where to get it.

Whoa! Thanks Ricky, that's the dream! You've seen pics of my Marlen, them boards would pop against those sparkley red necks on mine, wouldn't they? Now I know they were out there, anyone with'em on their guitars? Or info where I could find a couple for myself?
Thanks for the pictures Ricky, makes it easier to show this to the airbrush artist I know, rather than explaining it. Anyone wanting to unload a couple of these?I'd like to be considered

Edward, I have a couple of original Marlens here that have white fret boards on them.
Hope these are what you're talking about. Both of them have plastic covers, with paper style fret boards underneath. They are both original guitars, so it appears that's the way these were done. |

I think its a beut! Thanks for sharing Bob! I had searched the forum a couple times and never stumbled across these pictures. Really impressive, what's the year of your Marlen? Mine is a 71. Still haven't figured out how to load pictures for my avitar or within a thread or I'd show y'all my project.

Edward,these are two different guitars. The blonde one seems to be an earlier style, as most of the undercarriage is welded together like a permanent. All of the castings, and key heads are different also if you look. I'm not really sure about what year they were made.
The blue and blonde one is a later model, still a pull release not an all pull.
Both are still all original, I have not gotten around to working on them at all yet. |

ok, I see there are two now, didn't notice or failed to read your caption. they are way cool! ive never seen one with a permanent style undercarriage. you really got a couple of gems IMO. thanks so much for sharing them w/me Bob. Still thinking of replicating some white metal ones for my guitar. I showed a friend of mine the pics you and Ricky provided and we may work out something, for he is a great artist/painter/metalworker. So I wanted to thank you both.

Read the serial # backwards for date made.

| I have two of the white Marlen fret boards that Lenny Stadler had sent me. They're both made of paper. I think you cover them with clear plastic of sorts. |
