Because I don`t use the chorus on my Peavey Stereo Chorus amp head ,could I use a single 12 inch Black Widow cab instead of the 2x12 cab?
Yhanks Jimmy. |

Yes...but using only one speaker and one power amp would mean the available power would be cut in half. Of course, IMHO, the chorus is about the only reason to use this amp. So, if you don't like the chorus sound, I'd say trade it on a Nashville or Session model...anything with a mid-shift control, and then you'll have a far more (tonally) versatile amp. |

Thanks Donny, but just a thought is there any reason why I can`t connect both the speaker leads from the amp onto the terminals of a single speaker making sure they are on the right terminals + to + and - to -? then would I not get full power from the amp without the stereo effect?

Don't do that, Jimmy. You will blow up both power stages of the amp. The outputs MUST be kept separate from each other.
You'll have to use 2 speakers to get max sound output from that rig....which is using both power amps. As Donny said, using only one amp/speaker will give you half the power output...thus less volume.
Since you're not using a stereo effect, the resulting sound with 2 speakers is mono anyway. _________________ Best regards,

Thanks guys for your input, what I did was try just one of my 12 inch Black Widow speakers, and the volume was still very loud even with the just one speaker.
Could i use just one speaker ok? Or with having no load on one of the amps speaker outputs do any harm?
Thanks Jimmy. |

Being a solid state amp, you won't have any problem running just one channel. In fact, you'll get 150 watts with one channel driven. And doing that, you could remove one speaker and make the amp a little lighter.
Be sure to tape up the speaker wires for the unused amp so they can't touch each other, or anything else.
FYI...running both channels you get 130 watts each. (you probably knew that already) _________________ Best regards,
