I have always wondered about Moon's use of his right hand as he's playing "rhythm". It looks like he's got his palm parallel, fingers tipped up a bit to get the picks out of the way, and he's glancing off the strings with the fleshy part of his palm or fingers, which I would think would pull some good harmonic overtones off the strings. When I try it, I just get everything all caught up in the strings. Anybody seen and heard this close up?
