I know that many folks here know of forum member Ken and his amps and amp repairs. If you look through the forum you can read about the inspiration and development of this amp. It is based on the first 4x10 version of the Fender Bassman. It is a terrific sounding amp, one of the very best I have ever heard. I am not a steel player, so I cannot speak to that, but this is one sweet sounding amplifier. I regret having to part with it, but that's life. It puts out about 32 watts as is--you can make some other tube choices and get it up into the 40+ watt territory.

The amp is in excellent condition and comes with a D2F cover. I live in Northeast Ohio and local pickup is welcome, or I will ship. Price is $1600 firm, plus whatever actual costs to pack and ship by ground shipping.

Thanks for your consideration. While I am a new member here, have long enjoyed reading the forum. I will add some pics of the amp as soon as I can.

I am starting to inquiries about this model amp thru my website (notice I do not have email on this site, as I no longer answer tech questions via email or phone, as I am retired).

In today's market this amp would be around $2500.00 to build. However I no longer build amps.

$1999 and shipping was the original price. It had adjustable bias. First 12 were 5D6B (2 x 5Y3 rectifiers) second 12 were 5D6C (1 x 5U4GB) rectifier.

Chris, I own ser# 007 with a matching Fox reverb unit also #007. A finer 4-10 Bassman for guitar or steel cannot be found anywhere at any price. Just sayin'.

Chris - is this amp one of the first 12 dual-5Y3 amps or one of the second 12 single-5U4 amps?

Ken - I assume this 5D6 has the self-balancing paraphase inverter, more or less along the lines of the 5D3 Deluxe inverter, as opposed to the later 5E6 cathodyne phase inverter? My Deluxe is a 5D3, no sweeter-sounding blues guitar amp exists.

My main gigging amp these days is an actual '57 5E6 Bassman - it's just fantastic for guitar or steel. That's a dual-5U4 setup. Of course, there are gigs where I'm afraid to drag that old amp out, a modern version would be nice.

If ever I build again it would be this amp and my reverb units! I just built a reverb unit to match my 1960 Twin. I had forgotten how good they sound, especially after working on and hearing 2 vintage Fender Reverb units in the last year. No comparison!

Who ever get this amp should be very happy! I would love to hear some feedback on it from the new owner

Ken, Al Tanner allows me to play in his band. He has been after me to get one of your amps ever since he got his. You will get feedback for sure, if I was not to late on this one. Dick...

I have been after Dick to get a REAL FOX amp for the last couple of years. Way to go Dick...and I believe some sort of commission should be in order here.....and not the tip to "get out of town".....lol

Well I couldn't help but revive this thread to say that Dick Sexton was kind enough to sell me back this great Fox Vintage Amps 5D6-B bassman. Glad to have it back and thanks, Dick!
