Reece is now in the arms of his heavenly father. He passed away at 5:30 this morning. Please continue to pray for this dear sweet family.

| I had the honor of hosting a part of his European tour in the late seventies and so he stayed in my house a couple of nights. A modest man with a kind word for everyone although we Europeans probably amazed him. I treasure the fact that he called me his friend. May he rest in peace. |

I just read about this from David Wright.
Reece was a beautiful man. There are not enough words to thank the universe for having him in my life.
Amazing teacher, brilliant player, and a terrific friend.
My heart hurts.
I am very grateful for the chance to know him.

This is very sad news 
My sincere condolences to Reece's family and his many friends and fans. I so appreciate the conversations I was priveledged to have with Reece over the years, especially concerning the history of the Dallas music scene, of which he was an influential part.
We'll sure miss you my friend.

| So sorry to hear this news. My condolences to Reece's family. Like so many others that have gone before, there will be a huge void in the steel community without him... The first time I met Reece was in 1978 or 79, he was here in Lubbock with Ray Price.. He was so nice to me and played great! I'v always admired him as a person and player.. |

wow...sorry to hear this.
the greatest era of steel guitar (so far) is thinning down. reece and a few others are the developers and fine tuners of the modern steel guitar age. |

I am shattered. My only consolation he is home with the Lord. My prayers for Teresa and family. I Thank God for the brief time we shared together. This is another "Who's going to fill their shoes?" question. I think I will go play my MSA.

Wow... I was fortunate enough to take lessons from Reece a few years ago; he was actually the one who really introduced me to the steel guitar. For the past couple of years I kept saying "I need to see Reece again, I need to see Reece again..." now it's too late.
He was an amazing inspiration, a great guy, and an amazing player.

So sad to hear about Reece. I had the pleasure of meeting him in London in the 70's just after purchasing one of the best guitars ever-My MSA Classic. What a combination MSA guitars and Reece. What a truly great player he was. R.I.P. Mr MSA.

| Reece was and is genuine. Even though he's no longer with us we still have his memory and the videos and recordings he left with us. He remains our hero. But more than that, his talents and personality have just been relocated. Others now enjoy his talents. Music has it's place in the here-after and his career continues there and is appreciated by those who welcomed him there. That's my conviction based on the Good Book. |

Reece and I go back to 1977, when I brought him, Jess Hudson and Mark Jaco over to the UK to do what I believe to be the first series of steel guitar shows ever in England. We became firm friends, and I was always struck by how modest Reece was for a musician of his ability.
We have had many private conversations over the years about what makes a quality pedal steel guitar, and especially on the subject of tone. He never took offence when I disagreed with his views on the subject, which he felt passionate about.
My many trips to the USA always included a visit to the Johnny High Show in Arlington, Tx. Reece led a wonderful band there on Saturday nights, for wannabe country singers. Regardless of their level of talent, each performer would be rehearsed through in the afternoon of the show with all of the professionalism and effort that could be given. Maurice enlightened me during a break at one of his Johnny High shows once that his two favourite steel players were Paul Franklin and Tommy White, but that Noel Boggs was inspirational. He told me in 1977 that Paul would become THE outstanding steel session player. How is that for vision and prophesy.
My wife adored Reece and his dear mother, as he always made us so welcome each time we saw him. He was a real gent. Reece's name will always be synonymous with the brand name of MSA, of which he was so proud. I am proud too to have known this wonderful guy and able to call him a friend.
