For sale is my 1948 Vega Duo Grande double-8 console. It's in very good condition - a few minor nicks but excellent shape for a 65-year old guitar. A very lightweight guitar that has considerable acoustic volume. This model didn't originally have a neck switch, so I substituted one for the tone control. I still have all the parts that came with it and will include those if you want.
The far pickup was expertly rewound/restored by Jerry Wallace; the near pickup is in original condition. Both pickups work well; Jerry's is hotter but the two balance nicely.
Original case is functional, but one end was chewed through by my Aussie/Catahoula mix. See photo. Legs are included and in great shape.
Asking $700 shipped to continental USA. PM on forum if interested.

Bob, does it have legs? Are the tuners ok? Would the pickups balance having E13 on the near-neck and A6 on the outer-neck? For my tuning, the A6 has heavier strings, so a slightly weaker pichup is better. Do you know the ohm-readings for both pickups?
Thanks. _________________ RICK ABBOTT

Rick, it has legs in excellent shape. I can send you extra photos if you like. I think the pickups would balance pretty well with the setup you describe. Between the difference in gauges and maybe a pickup height tweak, it should work out OK. I've been using E9 on the near neck and A6 on the far neck. I don't know the ohm readings, sorry. |
