I was adjusting the height of the legs on my Stringmaster and one of the legs is stuck (the tightener adjustment is stuck and won't move).

Tried spraying a bit of vegetable spray in the openings on each side (I don't want to stink up the house with WD-40 if I can help it) - no luck.

Tried using a set of channel locks to break it it free while holding the leg with another set of channel locks, that only ended up scratching the leg.

Any ideas appreciated!

Thanks
Bill

Try tapping lightly on the leg clutch (the thing that tightens) with a small hammer or a pair of pliers. Heating the clutch would help, although I'm not sure how that could be done safely and without damaging it.

Doug, not only are you a great steel guitar player but you also a genius! Smile

A bit of tapping with channel locks did the trick.

Now, what's the best way to avoid this happening again in the future?
