Hello,
I am a pedal steel player that just got into a bluegrass group. I picked up a descent Resonator guitar and I would like to know of a good place online with free lessons. I would also like anyones opinions on things to learn, like slants and what the common "boxes" are to play in. Thanks a bunch!

Hiya
I'm a self taught guitarist -- been playing about 35 years -- and I just started on the steel guitar journey.

I can give a big +1 on the Lessons With Troy. He has lessons on steel and on dobro. You can check out his free excerpts on YouTube, but I highly suggest scrapin' together the scratch and getting his lessons.

You receive downloadable lessons and you can print out tabs and (really important to me) fretboard maps. He gives you a nice mix of theory and technique.

Good Luck Brother

--- This is not a paid endorsement nor do I have any affiliation with Lessons With Troy --- Surprised

The great Jimmy Heffernan is a day trip away for you. I'd grab at least one lesson and have him set you on the right path.

Russ Hooper in Baltimore may be available for a lesson. Don't know if he teaches.

Here's another vote for both Jimmy Heffernan and Troy Brenningmeyer.
