Tommy, as signified by the winking and laughing emoticons, my comment was meant completely in jest. Honestly, until now I had also not heard (or cared about) this publication or it's "awards" as well.

I think there are steel players working today that are sounding as good and innovating as much as at any time in the history of the pedal steel guitar. And you can hear this in real time. Just tune into the Grand Ole Opry and listen to the staff steel player.

It looks like the Music Row Awards started in 1982. Congratulations to this years and past year winners.
The award gives recognition to the players that so often never get mentioned.
Thanks for sharing Robert. Very Happy And I like the way they list who played on what.

It's pretty cool to see the players listed by album.
And very informative to see that out of the past 20 years, Paul Franklin has played on the most top 10 albums for 16 years.
Paul, you're one busy feller.

1991 the steel guitar was considered a "miscellaneous instrument".

That kid from Bering Strait, although I guess he's not a kid anymore and he left the band years ago, Ilya Toshinsky has played on over have of the top ten records.
I'm not sure if it fair to just list him as "Guitar" since he plays banjo, dobro, mandolin, dulcimer, Ukulele, and even bouzouki on those 26 hit records.

Kinda surprising not to see Brent Mason among the top-3 guitarists, ain't it?
