I have a new to me Carter U-12. I've seen post on the forum concerning the front and back legs being different.
Two of my legs are marked red at the threads. Anyone know where they are supposed to be attached? |

I believe the red marked ones were meant to be the front legs. All 4 legs should be the same. I think that they just marked two for the front so you always had the ones with the correct amount of space between the clutch and the rubber leg tip for the pedal bar.
EDIT: Actually, and you might check, they might also be the one's with dowel rods in them so they don't try to shorten themselves while playing. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) . I think the rear legs for Carters may have the inner tubes shortened to save weight. |

The back legs of my Mullen S-12 have the "clutch" about 1/2 the distance between the bottom of the guitar and the floor. The large "outside" tube part of the leg is about 1/2 the length of what a normal leg is. The smalling "Inner" tube part is longer than normal I would assume. It makes it really easy to adjust the back legs with this set up as you do not have to reach all the way down to floor level to loosen or tighten the clutch. (just looked for a photo showing them, but every photo of that guitar is from the front and they don't show! )
It's a great idea, wish my other guitars were like that!

All 4 of my Carter legs look and feel the same. If they shortened the inner tube to save weight, it didn't save much. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) . From the Carter Owners Manual:
Please Note: the FRONT legs are easily distinguished from the back legs by the BLACK marking on the threaded slugs of the FRONT legs
Maybe they ran out of red |
