I'm experiencing a low 60 cycle hum from my NV112 that is the same level regardless of the master volume level, or any other level of any front control. Playing loud it's not audible but it is irritating at best. Any ideas on a fix?

Is it actually the amp or something external?

Power on the amp, ONLY, nothing connected to it and see if still has the hum. If not, its something external causing the "ground loop hum". If its still there, turn the reverb control to Zero (off) and see if still hums.

Search the archives here and you should find quite a bit of discussion on ground loops. A simple way to test it is use one of those three prong to two prong adapters and see if it goes away. That is not a permanent fix as it has killed many guitar players, but there is a device you can buy, I built mine, to cure it.

Thanks for the replies. The hum comes on after a minute or so, so it's not acting like a ground loop. It hums whether anything is plugged in or nothing is plugged in, so it's not the guitar.

Oh, Jack, it is also unaffected by turning the reverb to zero.

If it does it by itself, and its not a hum from the reverb (turned off a s I originally noted) then it will require service.

Best option is to contact Mike Brown at Peavey and then send it to Peavey for service.
