I have a Line 6 Variax bass. I don't play it much, so I decided to search the internet to see what it's worth. I couldn't find any for sale, but I did find this nicely done page with a great video demo of the instrument.

They seem to be going for around $1,400 - $1,500.

Those are the Variax guitars. They only produced the Variax bass for 2 or 3 years. There was also a 5-string model, and both came in sunburst or black. I paid about $500 for mine - a steal considering the quality of the instrument.

I just found another one for sale, $700 including a Bass Pod effects unit:

I have a 4 string model that I really like. Here is a link to a song where I used an upright bass patch with the Praise & Worship band I used to play with.
