Topic: CD Players Used For Rhythm Tracks |

I have not played steel guitar for twenty years and have recently started playing again. I would like to know what kind/type of CD player is most commonly used by steel players who practice at home using rhythm tracks. I would prefer to not take out a "second mortgage" to purchase one.

| You probably have everything you need right now. I copy the rhythm tracks to my laptop which is connected to a sound system. That way I can use a program like Audacity to loop the song, slow it down, change keys and do many other things that you can’t do with a CD player. |

| Jerry, For years I have used an inexpensive "Walkman" style CD player to play my tracks. Just get a 3 foot stereo mini cable to go from the CD player to the aux in of your amp. Almost any brand will do but I would avoid Sony as they produce a loud noise between tracks. Just find one with a large enough window so you can see what number you are looking for. I have a large collection of Country and Gospel tracks that I have used at Church and Seniors Homes over the years. You can probably get one at Radio Shack or on-line for $40.00 to $60.00. |

Thanks for the information, George. It looks like I won't have to get a second mortgage on my home after all. By the way, old country and gospel songs are two of my favorite music catagory's when playing.

I used to have a couple of Sony CD players, both plugged in to a mixer, so I could have about 40 tracks ready. (If you hold the play button down while inserting the batteries, you can shut off the beep in between songs)
But now I use Zune MP3 players and I can store hundreds of tracks with descriptive titles/ keys and chord info.
