Hi,
I am the proud new owner of an Allison 8-string console. A great guitar. And the surf green is really cool. Chrome telescoping legs. leg bag and Bulldog (shotgun) gig bag.
The sound is very Fender-like. Mine has Bill Lawrence pickups and a continuous blend control--no detents.
The String spacing is 3/8 at the bridge, slightly tighter at the nut (but the fretboard does not taper).
Great tone, strong pickups, clear separation of tones. In all, a great player.
I bought mine from Hill Country Guitars, Wimberly, Texas. They were a pleasure to deal with and the price was very nice. Free shipping.
Must be brief. It's time to play some more...

Always liked that color in a guitar. Is that what Fender referred to as "Sea Foam Green"? |

Congratulations, Bob, that's a very cool guitar. I can hear the surf just by looking at it. |

Thanks everyone. Yes, it's a looker. But more importantly it is a great player. I have been doing some instrument shuffling; my other new instrument is a black Sierra 8 on legs with the 5-position pickup, in mint condition.
The Sierra and Allison compliment each other nicely. Both are great players. The single coil position on the Sierra has plenty of bite. The series-parallel setting is nice, too.
According to Gruen and Carter's Electric Guitars and Basses, p. 144, foam green is a little a little lighter than surf green.
Must go. Miss Allison is calling...
Life is good. |

As a beneficiary of some of your shuffling, I'm very happy, too! I'm the new owner of a fantastically well-restored Rick B6 (thanks to Bob, Bill Creller, Rick Aiello...). It's a win-win, fo sho! _________________ "The Masher of Touch and Tone"

Yo Jim,
And a big thanks to b0b.
Even my wife is happy. One less guitar, and the bank account is a little fatter. Life is good!!
Have you bought a tuxedo to go with that Ric yet?
Take good care of that plastic baby. She's precious.
All the best,
Bob |

I've been trying to find a tuxedo with chrome highlights and trim... haven't found one yet. _________________ "The Masher of Touch and Tone"
