What have you found that works well for a regular shaped (Dickerson) 6 string lap. I'm looking for a gig bag, padded, lightweight etc. |

I've found that baritone ukulele cases and bags work well for guitar shaped lap steels. |

I like the bags that Bob Allen provides with his Allen Melbert steel guitars. Perhaps he will sell one separately.

Todd,
My steel is pretty much straight and unlike a guitar's shape. I got the Morrell case because it looks more like the body shape of my steel.
Thanks anyway. |

James,
I think I'd have a heck of a time at the airport with an obvious gun case but it's too wide for me anyway.
Thanks.

Mike,
I used to use a rifle bag a lot and we were constantly flying back and forth to gigs and so forth...never got hassled.

Years ago, I bought a custom padded bag for a lap steel at Tuki Covers, a company that specializes in padded amp covers. I sent them measurements and a color choice, and I got a great bag in two weeks for about $90.00. I thought that was a nice bag, and the people at Tuki were great on the phone.

I use a tenor banjo gig bag for my Jerry Byrd frypan. It works fine. - Jack _________________ Jack Aldrich

Well, shame on me for not reading the Morrell page better. Their cases are ONLY for their guitars and mine does not fit in it. Time for plan B. |

Mike... I have a brand new gig bag that came with the 8 string that Bob Allen just finished for me...I won't be using it because the new steel has legs -
I had a hard shell road case built to accommodate the guitar, the legs and all the other junk I need to play out...
PM me if you're interested...
