Run the guitar directly to the amp input. Bypass the volume pedal (or any effects). You will have to turn the volume level down in the amp so you don't blast out.
See if you hear any buzzing or distortion with it direct. If not, its the volume pedal (or whatever else you have in the line).
If you still have the problem, use a different amplifier to see if its still there in case its the amp thats causing it. |

Thanks for the imput.Yeh i did that, now that the cleaner /lubricate has gotten throught the volume pot it seems to have cleared up.I use a product called NU-TROL, its a cleaner and lubricant for electronics. It was recommended to me years ago when i was in the mechanical trade. It will take a brand new set of contacts and bring them to O resistance,as well as lubricate.some cleaners do not lubricate and can cause damage to your pots, especially the sliding carbon style used in PA systems.. _________________ I have a Tele plus telecaster, Larrivee acoustic. If a pot is just "dirty" then control cleaner will help or fix the problem. However, if the resistance element or the wiper are just "worn out" it won't really help. |

you'd think a brand new set of contacts would be working ok without it! |

Yeh you would think that new contacts would have O resistance, but even after cleaning brand new contacts with a linen cloth or linen paper,it still shows resistance. After spaying with NU=TROL O res.Dont ask my why,i just know it works ,i used to do major tuneups for racing machines and we always used NU-TROL for best performance and least amount of problems. That was back before electronic ignition etc., shows my age.Anyone that has a sound board with sliders, this is the ONLY cleaner /lubricant i would recommend, some cleaners have no lube and will DESTROY a slider. _________________ I have a Tele plus telecaster, Larrivee acoustic.
