with many going to rackmount systems, what is the favored preamp these days. Looking for something fairly simple, but at the same time want something that does the job. 'will be paired up with a TC electronics M1 XL.Looking for some input on what some of you like...Thanks

There are so many to chose from. They all have their own "personality". Sarno, Walker, Telenics, etc.
It's kinda like asking what amp should I use, Fender, Peavey, Boogie. Kinda an impossible question to answer. And almost impossible to try 'em all next to one another unless you go to one of the steel shows where they have 'em to try out.
Kinda like asking what truck would you prefer, Ford, Chevy, or Dodge.
Sorry not to be of more help but it's a next to impossible question to answer.

As far as pre-amps go, It is hard to beat an old Tube Works Blue Tube II. I have tried numerous different pre-amps but always seem to go back to this unit. It is no longer in production but occasionally they come up for sale. The Company was bought out by Genz Benz and they are good about providing parts for the older units.
