Man, that was beautiful - the combination of Vince leading off the break and handing it off to Paul. I think that's one of the prettiest things I've heard Paul play.

Vince is a great one for stage banter and comments in between songs. I saw him here in Santa Rosa in fall 2010 (Tommy White was on steel), and after a blistering outro on his Tele, he looks out at the audience, takes a deep breath and said something like "you know - that guitar solo lasted one minute, but it took me a thousand hours of practice to be able to play it!"

Wonderful. What a great combo, and a truly stunning steel solo. Delicious!

Watch Sting at about 3:20. Looks like he's saying "oh my." Which was my reaction to Paul's playing...

Holy Smoke. What great tone Paul Franklin had on that video. Just downright beautiful.
